Hello juniors!

I'm probably the voice of an ancient past. Good luck to all Sec 4s for your O Levels, jiayou!

To the section : many things have changed since I left. But I still remember a life in NYCO YQP without instructors, I remember how it was like when guo lao shi first came to teach in NY, I remember how hard we had to persuade the teachers i/c to get new yangqins. I remember how we strived for SYF and the utter exhilration when we got into finals.

Continue working hard for SYF.

I've read about the new instructor for percussion (is it Eugene?). I remember we were (or perhaps I was) somewhat like that when guo lao shi came. I hated being dragged away from the yangqin, I didn't particularly enjoy percussion with the seniors, I tried to slink away/be late. But in all, it's all about getting used. Towards the end, practice was good when all of us were warmed up, happy and open. And I remember the pride and joy we had when we put up "Lion" in 2002 and when Ms Chek said it was one of the best items of the concert.

I have always believed in NYCO, and even being tucked away in some corner of NUS, a part of me feels like I still belong to NYCO, especially YQ&P.

And to the one going to HCCO (gosh, it's hard figuring the posters when I don't know some juniors, even harder with no name at the end) : I found it different from NYCO, but for me, there were no seniors, no familiar batchmates around. In time, you will grow to love HCCO, but it has not engulfed my love for NYCO. I love this section, I love HCCO, and 2 years since I've left all these instituitions behind me, I still hold onto them.

Take care dear juniors. I hope to be back to visit... when I can.

listen up people.
i'm out of nyco, but it doesn't mean i dont care anymore.
it doesnt mean i mind my own business and leave the management of stuff to the juniors, as my father says.
what management man.
it's about respect for other people's property.

anway i'm freaking pissed now, so sorry if i sound aggressive or anything.

you guys know that every year we have problems with speech training teachers.

every year, we tell them NOT to touch our instruments.
every year, they choose to ignore our nice requests, they choose to TOUCH our instruments, to USE our instruments as and when they like.
they do not put our instruments back properly.
sometimes the instruments end up in terrible condition.
and if you remember, last year we ended up with scratched timpani, and a broken maraca.

i just heard from my sis that her chinese speech training teacher got some of them to take the di luo off the stand and PUT IT ON THE FLOOR so that she could use the stand for a PROP.

i think this is really too much.

first they do not have respect for other people. they choose to ignore us. fine.
then they do not have respect for our property, our things. they use our instruments as and when they like as though it belongs to them.
are we going to let them do to our instuments what they like?

we give up our room for them to practice.
we move our instruments out so that they can have the air con room.
and how do they repay us?
by destroying our instruments.
by treating us as utter idiots.

screw it.

juniors, i urge you not to take this lying down.
i know many times we cant do much.
we can speak to teachers in charge, as we did last year, but nothing will change.
because that's the way the school us.
but what we can do, let us do.
if it is our teacher, let's try as much as possible to tell them not to touch the instruments without permission.
if they would like to use it, i'm sure mrs ee, and we, would not mind, if they would take care of it well.
but we will not take it lying down to see them mistreating our instruments.

put a di luo on the floor?
i dont think so.

peiyan, jiayou.

I guess... all of us are getting our exam results back now. Hope everyone did well! And I know practice has resumed, so jiayou for xiaozus and molihua (: HAHA. Just something random, I'm quite apprehensive about being in hcco next year. I wonder how the atmosphere will be like, what the people will be like, how's the conductor like (wendy can tell me that). At least there are seniors there, and batchmates too. Hoho. I want to be in nyco forever!

Hey, I am especially sorry to you guys because I cannot go for Ziyi's birthday celebration today, since I still have papers tomorrow. Especially sorry to Ziyi; a thousand apologies! But nevertheless, Ziyi is:
16 years old!

Ouch, age shouldnt be a sensitive issue, but anyway, happy birthday, Ziyi!
Our beloved SL and dearest senior! :D

Sometimes I wonder why the sky is always blue.
When you write your essays, the sky is always blue in the day.
When song lyrics are penned for songs, the sky is always blue.
When you are happy, the sky is always blue (or gets bluer).
Sometimes the truth doesn't reflect in what you think it is. That goes to say that we are all myopic human beings who candidly only have blue aspirations for the sky. The sky doesn't just have to be blue:

1) Gray - Indicating Rainy Weather
2) Pink/Red/Orange/Yellow - Sunrise, Sunset
3) Purple - Thunderstorms at night
4) Black - At night, or simply, when you close your eyes.

Find the unexpected amongst the expected. The results are something to be much more accentuated, I suppose. Jiayou for EOYs, people. Soar in the "blue, blue" sky.
