Hello YQP!

This post is about all the stuff i was talking about but nobody seemed to be registering this morning O_o
I guess i'm overtly boring; sorry about that, then.

Anyway, first things first.

1) BRING $30 TOMORROW AND HAND IT OVER TO ME IN THE MORNING IF YOU WANT NYCO JACKET.

2) MAF

As i have already said, the details of MAF are as follows:

Date: 3rd september
Time: 8.30am to 7pm
Venue: HCI High School Section
Meals: Lunch is provided, dinner is not

Attire: Bermudas / Pants and school-related t-shirt (eg. CO tee). They should all be, preferably, dark coloured, since we will be playing water games. Also bring a spare set of clothes to change into after the water games. The spare set of clothes can be of any colour, and the t-shirt still needs to be school related. Bring a spare set of the stuff you wear underneath as well - undergarments, if that's not straight-forward enough for you.

What to bring: Consent-form, tuner, qinzhu / drumsticks, scores (perc scores have not been handed out yet). Feel free to help me add on anything I might have forgotten.

3) Attendance matters

- Scenario: There is CCA today. You suddenly find out that you cannot come for xiaozu / dazu or will be late for the practice session because of some other commitment. What do you do? Sms me whether you will be coming for practice at all, if yes, the time you will be back for CCA. Also tell me the reason for which you will be absent / late.

- Scenario: There is CCA today. You are totally absent from school, and thus, obviously, will not be able to attend CCA either. Sms me that you are on MC, and by the NEXT SCHOOL DAY, give me a photocopy of your MC.

- Scenario: You have a scheduled event on a CCA practice date, and thus will not be able to attend CCA / will be late for CCA. Give me a formal excuse letter which states the date you will not be present for CCA, and the reason for which you will not be present. It must be written or acknowledged or both by your parents.

--

Lastly, next year when school reopens, email me asap (the moment you find out) about any supplementary classes that you have that happen on a REGULAR BASIS (same day every week, until the same time), if those classes coincide with CCA practice dates. Therefore, I will not need to chase after you each week to ask why you are absent from CCA. Saves both of us the trouble (:

And that's all from me..

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REMEMBER THE FIRST POINT. (: haha, if you somehow see it.

Hello if you're free after school tomorrow come support my class' team at the inter-class debates semifinals! :D

309 (whoo!) vs 313
310 vs 314
Starts: Around 3.45 -4 pm
Ends: Around 4.30 - 4.45pm

It's a short preparation round, which means the teams will be given only 1 hour to prepare for the entire debate.

The motion will be related to IH and current affairs, so it will be insightful for seniors and juniors alike (:

You can come see me screw up! Huge incentive ya.

(Heh it's so late I doubt anyone would see this in time...?)

Joy the zoybean/poo speaks.

Warning: Long and probably cheesy post. Forgive me, I'm getting on in my years.

YQP!
I'm finally done with the super long post that I've been meaning to type, so here it is. (This is copied from my own blog.) I bet there'll probably be a lot of grammer errors but I don't care.

My last day as an official NYCO member has ended. Seniors have already stepped down, and the new committee is finally taking over. All these mark the end of my journey with YQP in NYCO. So how do I feel? I don't know, there's a whirlwind of emotions, actually, and since I'm never good with words and all the cheemysheemy stuff, you'll have to bear with me for the next 2,000+ words or so..

Now, let's start all the way from the beginning.

When I just came last year, I was extremely terrified of dazu. I still remember my first dazu, when I hit the first note on my gong at the wrong time. My hands were seriously freezing and I told myself that oh no I'm not going to enjoy this at all ): and I wondered how I'm going to get through two entire years. I really dreaded CCA a lot, and I didn't really feel like talking to anyone.

I still remember my first day at CCA. It was xiaozu. I didn't really expect much because I wasn't particularly into percussions at that time. I still remember the times when I'd just show up for CCA being really antisocial and keep quiet and not talk to anyone. (Well that's just me. I'm super quiet around people I'm not familiar with) so I was pretty much a loner at first, keeping to myself all the time, trying to make as little contact as possible with those around me in CCA. I even felt really very inferior because I just joined Nanyang as a sec 3 student last year and hey, I was actually learning the same stuff as the sec 1s. I felt horrible; I even called my batchmates 'seniors' because it just didn't feel right to call them batchmates. They were just so much better than me. But soon, I got over my inferiority complex and really opened up. I became more confident in myself, accepted new friendships, and started getting used to my CCA. After a year plus of bonding and everything, I must admit that I have really fallen in love with NYCO. I fell in love with my CCA, my section, and chinese music as well. I'm not scared of dazu anymore, and I've learnt to enjoy it just as much as I enjoy xiaozu. NYCO has turned into my passion, and the daji area in M401 is just like my second home. It's so amazing that I've grown so much closer with every single member of YQP, and I even feel more bonded with YQP than I am with my own class. I don't know. I just feel a lot of NYCO, especially YQP. They're really a nice and wacky bunch, and honestly, I don't regret coming here at all. As a matter of fact, I'll regret it a lot if I didn't come here.

I just want to say that I'm very, very proud to be from NYCO and YQP, and that I'm really proud, happy and grateful to have made such brilliant friends who shared so many memories with me. Having animated discussions about beloved QQ and ET, running in the rain to board a bus to coronation plaza for lunch, talking crap and making so much noise on the way to YST for marimba masterclass, showing up randomly at our ex-SL's house to give her a surprise birthday party (and then proceed to turn her room into a complete warzone because of all the rubbish on the floor), walking in huge circles (we held hands) in shopping centres in order to not get lost, stacking up chairs and building barricades around our instruments and then grinning proudly at our end product, practicing taifeng for qwdb in front of the reflective windows of the IT control room and laughing because we made those IT people let down their curtains, practicing in all sorts of weird places like the toilet and at the huge balcony on the fourth floor (to “sun” horrible-sounding drums at the same time), moving instruments up and down four storeys and shrieking all the way as we carry the marimba down manually, playing with the stupid but amusing shrieking chicken just hours before our concert, dancing like complete gay idiots backstage during the concert trying to loosen up our stiff necks and arms, touching and rubbing our ex-SL's bald kiwi-like head (that was back then, she's already officially promoted to 'durian'!) for “good luck”, pouring awful-smelling powder over our drums just to get the cool "effect" when we hit them (and to choke the audience as well), and of course, unning all over the place bare-footed to move instruments back at midnight after that because we simply hate court shoes, as unglam as that may sound. And so on. All the weird shit we did together will be remembered! I'll really miss them a lot next year. Being weird/hyper/crazy/insane is like the YQP trademark!

16th August 2008 was our qinggongyan + YQP sec 4s farewell dinner at marina square + xy's house. supposedly! It's such a pity that I didn't get to go to shin's house in the end because it was already late and my parents were dragging me home. Ah well, at least we had fun for 12 entire hours (10am to 10pm) as a section! We listened to the concert recordings in M3 during the qinggongyan, and when it was qwdb, I actually sprained my neck due to excessive "taifeng" when our section was attempting to play along to it. Haha anyways after that there was this award for each and every senior, and I got the "weirdest senior" award! Welllllll hahaha, and cass just randomly shouted out something like "senior with the most number of facial expressions!" when I was receiving the "prize" (3 lollipops + a heart shaped note from NYCO) .. hmmm! Okay moving on. Next was making our way to marina square for dinner(: YQP were rushing/running/sprinting like mad, as always .. (the typical "huge-lump-of-yellow-people-scrambling-across-the-city" kind of thing.) alright lets fast forward that part. Dinner! We were grilling/cooking/boiling/frying our own food, and there was the selfless yuka who kept cooking for others. Awww. Fast forward to dessert! We only decided to have dessert because we were only allowed to stay for another hour if we did, and so we started frying our own icecreams. It was seriously F-U-N okay so we mixed vanilla and tea together and we got some weird stuff that looked and tasted like playdoh HAHAHA but we ate them anyways. The YQP icecream making session was a success! -big grin- so basically, the whole day just involved crapping, crapping, some cooking, some zapping (static), some emo-ing, and more crapping. Well, why emo? All of you should know very well that Joy is hardly emo. I don't cut myself.. but rah, the stuffs that the juniors wrote for us were simply (place appropriate word here). Jiani and Pei Er gave all the sec 4s a card and a tiny soft toy thing. I got a "determination" card and "greenie" (IKEA soft toy :D) and also, each of the sec 4s got an orange notebook, and everyone from the rest of the section wrote in it. So chew and I decided to read them together on the MRT! Haha right in front of our sectionmates who diedie didn't want us to read. Yea and being the (place appropriate word here) me, I read and just literally broke down on the spot. I didn't care about the strangers who were casting weird looks at me at all. I don't know what got into me, seriously, because I was really really emo when I read the stuff, and I just started crying on the MRT. Guess who's entry made me cry! Haha, it was cass's. She wrote it in such an emo way it was hard to NOT cry when reading it :/ Anyways, I finally calmed down after rachel said something like "your contacts are going to swim out if you continue crying". Hahahaha, but yea after that we went to the bus interchange to take a bus to shin's. I really really thought I was going to her house! Until my parents called to say that it was already really late, so in the end I had to say byebye to the section there ): Ah wells, hugs were exchanged blahblahblah. And then it was home for me. Sigh :/

NYCOYQP is really a huge, huge part of my life in nanyang, and I simply cannot imagine the emptiness that I will experience the minute I graduate and cross the bridge. Life will be so different, so empty, and so bare without YQP. We've been through so much together, and even though the memories will always stay, things will never ever be the same again.

But no matter what, NYCOYQP will never be forgotten, and I will take every piece of memory with me when I move on to JC. I'm really happy to have been part of something so wonderful, and I feel really lucky to have been at the right place, at the right time. If I had chosen to go to RGS instead of NYGH, I would never have known YQP at all, and I probably would've ended up being part of something else, something else that can never be as good as this. NYCO and YQP are the best things that ever happened to me, and I will definitely miss and cherish every single memory we had together. I love all of you, YQP! Okay maybe I should say them separately. It'll sound more sincere(: Alright, in alphabetical order.. I love you, cassandra (curly cuttlefish)! I love you, chewfei (shuaige/choo/kiwi/durian)! I love you, jaime (panda/jamma)! I love you, jiani (nickname-less at the moment)! I love you, pei er (nickname-less too)! I love you, rachel (teddybear/rae/racialharmonday)! I love you, sylvia (silver)! I love you, weishan (ex-mom)! I love you, wendy (weasel)! I love you, xin yi (shinny/shinanigans/shin/zinny)! I love you, yuka (yoga/yuki/maria)! I love you, yunge (clouds o.o?)! All of you are special and unique in your own ways, and this is what makes YQP YQP. So look forward to the RICO concert day! That will most probably be the last section outing for the year ): ahhhh. Anyways yup, look forward to it, everyone. I'm still in the process of writing all of you letters ;) this is so uncreative, I know, but RAH it's still nice(: hahaha!

Alrightttt, lets take a break from all that emo-ness! Okay. I've been doing something lame all this while. Surprise, surprise! I've been googling all of your pictures, my dear YQP. Moohahaha >) I was like LOL-ing all the way. Okay okay here goes. Don't feel offended or anything k, lets all laugh along :D I'll put the word I googled in inverted commas!

--

Anyways, back to the emo/sentimental post. You know what, I have a really bizarre idea. I don't care I shall say it anyways. 60 years later, when we all become old teethless and wrinkly grannies carrying old fashioned purses, I will look everyone up and we shall have a YQP Grannies gathering. Who knows, maybe we can have a mini playing session then. Haha, I wonder how many of us will still remember qwdb 60 years down the road. (Maybe we'll all end up in the same 老人华乐团 in some community centre!) But yes, when we meet up again, we shall bring our drumsticks along and relive all the wonderful yang ching dah chee memories. I think we'll all become those naggy old grannies who reminisce to their grandchildren all the time. "想当年... 我在舞台上多风光! 当年我们的打击乐是多么的有动感啊!" Hahaha sheesh, I wonder how things will be like then. So yeah, bring along your drumsticks, people! Even if they're all lousy and dusty and on the verge of falling apart. It'll be a better choice as compared to letting them breed termites at home right. I don't mind breaking my last few fragile bones playing the drums at such an old age too, man! ((((:

I LOVE YOU SO, SO MUCH, NYCO AND YQP!

I know this is just one heart, but trust me, it's big enough. it's 10000001 kilometres long, 10000001 kilometres wide, and 100000001 kilometres thick. It's huuuuuuge!

due to popular demand the fact that i'm the free one today, i shall post about today's dazu !:D

BEFORE I CONTINUE, THERE IS SOMETHING EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:
CCA IS NOT SUSPENDED YET !IT WILL ONLY BE SUSPENDED FROM 4SEPT !
SO THAT MEANS YOU DON'T NEED TO COME FOR CCA FROM 5 SEPT ONWARDS !

yea .

we did XI YANG GUI FAN :D yay. haha .
so ,it was overall QUITE OKAY LEH !:D
we just guo the song once, plus some important parts !
THEN WE HEARD THE RECORDING OF THE XI YANG GUI FAN BY some orchestra .
because our own version didn't work D:
but the sound quality was quite bad, because the music system in M4 isn't that good .sad right .M301 GETS THE BEST SPEAKERS !D:
ohwell, it's not like we can switch over -.- so NEVERMIND !ahaha .

then we discussed about our CO JACKET ZOMG 45DAYS !at most la .but still , ABOUT A MONTH !
let's countdown, baby !HAHA .

oh, then there was a comm meeting of which the details i dunno, and it's irrelevant anyway(:
so that's all for today's dazu !

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TOMORROW'S QING GONG YAN :D
i know you are too, no matter who you are :D

WEISHAN
(i don't need a nickname lorh, my name is so COOL already HAHAHAH)
and all instruments love me la, yunge and rachel .GET OVER IT .
NEHNEHNEEPOOPOOO *sticks tongue out*

You know there are 3 things that make me an exceptionally unlikeable person:

1) grumpiness
2) tiredness
3) hunger

And today there is a lethal combination of all three. Moooo. I'm grumpy because of work. I'm tired because of work. I'm hungry because I did work. Therefore, work is the root of my unhappiness. Does work suck or what?

Okay now for the main point... Please work hard YQP!

I know the very important EOYs are coming, and everyone wants to study.

I know that exams and results are far more important than competitions.

But what I request is not much. It is less than the essentials.

Practice at least 15 minutes a day. Don't lose touch after 2 months.

I'm sure there are a few guilty ones who never practice at home. For that I shan't express disappointment, but it is wholly up to you whether you want to be consistent and even improve, or slack off and let the rest of the section wait for you.

Have you ever wondered why 基本功 is considered a basic necessity? Whether you play yangqin or percussion, you always do warm-ups. Personally I wouldn't even mind spending half my practice time doing 基本功, because without the technique you cannot even play things correctly, much less musically. If you struggle with hitting the right notes or rhythm at the correct tempo, there is no room for musicality.

As you know, after our exams we will only have about 1.5 months to prepare for such an important competition. We therefore cannot afford to waste time "catching up" after 2 months of stagnation. Just 15 short minutes every day. You can practice during TV commercials, during breaks, before bedtime, anything.

The Sec 3s will be away for 2 weeks in China, and ET won't be free enough to help us all the time.

Practice 基本功, learn to keep a steady tempo, perhaps even learn to perform, rather than just playing the notes.

To end off, a quote from my Math teacher (yes, unlikely but true):

"Practice as if you are at your worst. Perform like you are at your best."

When you were 5, mummy brought you out for an outing to the zoo. You see an ice cream vendor, and you pointed at it, facing your mummy : "mummy, i want!"
but mummy says "no".
you cry.
mummy softens up, and got you your favourite ice-cream. cookies and cream
and you smiled radiantly.
This is happiness.

When you were 8, you went out shopping with your mum on a typical saturday, to paragon, OG, takashimaya... you walked past toys r us, and u see a big monopoly set. You stared at mummy with that big teary eyes, pointing at that, saying "mummy! i want!"
mummy looked at the price, turned around with a concentrated look, and said "no, wait till there's discount."
you started begging, tears almost coming out, "please mama!"
mummy looked at it again, turned around and sighed. 15 minutes later, you skipped out of toys r us, with mummy behind u carrying a big plastic bag.
This is happiness.

When you turned 12, your friend called you and invited you to a birthday party. You took a breathe and asked mummy if u could go.
mummy drank a cup of water, looked at the calendar and said, " but its 2 months to PSLE. You should be studying now."
you started whining, " MMMMmmmm, mummy, please? i'll study after that! Please? please? please?"
mummy looked at you," only if you really promise. If you don't study when u come back, there will be no more parties."
you agreed hastily, " yes, i will! i promise!"
And you went for the party and had loads of fun.
This is happiness.

And now you turn 15, and you went for an outing with your friends. You asked your mum if you could stay out for dinner, your mum looked at you and said yes. You smiled, and continued talking on the phone. The day came, and soon, you finished watching the movie. You settled down with your bunch of friends and was about to eat your dinner, when your mum called and shouted at you ," COME HOME NOW. Didn't i ask you to come home at 8?!"
you were dumb-founded, "er, no."
she snapped back, " come home now!"
and you went, feeling all sad, pissed and everything but happy.

its outrageously true :( sadly

Hello in case you guys don't know, I live in Siglap!

Actually it's between Joo Chiat and Opera Estate but it's under Bedok GRC and the nearest MRT station is Kembangan but the direct bus starts at Bedok Interchange.

And, uh, it's extremely near Hazel's house? (She's the Ruan SL!)

Okay that's not the point. Main thing is, tell me what movie(s) you want to watch! (:

Suggestions:
1) Looney Tunes
2) Borat
3) Sicko
4) Brokeback Mountain
5) Lust, Caution

As you can see, they are all not quite appealing (though I know some of you are screaming over #4 and especially #5). I have quite a lot of movies but most are action (i.e. lots of BINGBINGBANGBANG).

Anyways I don't have a lot of mattresses, so be prepared to squeeze a little .__.

(before i start, i would like to apologise if this post ends up looking more like a letter rather than a blog post, as i have just drafted an extremely long letter-- in my opinion, at least-- to a magician, for causes of which i shall not say! yay! oh it rhymes.)

(another warning: considering i have not posted anything on any blog for a considerably long time, this is going to be the naggiest post in the entire world. or cyberworld, for the matter. it's going to be SO LONG-WINDED you would have thought i aged 50 years, if you didnt know better. thus, i apologise beforehand as well.)

okay.

//

HELLO WHY KILL PEE!

as a dumb cuttlefish who

1) frequently evaporates from the cyberworld, as chewfei says, such that the whole cyberworld goes mad trying to look for the irritating twit of a sea creature who doesnt update her own blog / appear on the tagboards on any other blog

2) who blogs / posts on THIS PARTICULAR BLOG only once every million eternities...

..it may shock you to see that i'm actually posting something.

thus, that would lead you to think i'm here for a SPECIAL, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, SUPER DUPER IMPERATIVE (that means 'important' too, by the way. i'm just acting cheem / chim. whatever, however you spell it.) REASON.

well, nope.

..

okay, fine, yeah.

i need to address my adorable section regarding a few things.
1) QING GONG YAN! (+ dinner after that as a section + sleepover at xin yi's house!)
2) NAC (faints)
3) AOB (at the moment, i have no idea what i'm going to put here. well, i'll get there.)

//

1 (a) QING GONG YAN!

to be honest, i have no idea why i'm talking about this first. it's the MOST EXCITING topic, so i ought to be leaving it for last, but never mind.

hooray, to the sec 1s, in case you dont know, qing gong yan is the day that the whole of NYCO celebrates our success in a concert / SYF. for example, last year, 2007, NYCO celebrated our i-dont-know-how-many-th GOLD WITH HONOURS.

this year, we need to 'get high' (celebrate) over the fact that our concert was so incredibly, undeniably exciting. (ESPECIALLY PERCUSSION ITEMS, MUAHAHA!)

we pwn :3

(eek, i've never used that phrase before. i dont even know how to pronounce it. ah well. it's a weird phrase, though.)

SO. details for this year's qing gong yan.

- date: 16th August, Saturday
- time: 10am-2.30pm
- venue: nanyang girls' high school
- what we'll be doing:
erm. well, obviously there isnt a humongous planned schedule with time slots of what we'll be doing. and i dont really have to include this segment, because, very obviously, we'll be..

(i) eating
(ii) spouting nonsense and telling lame jokes (fine, i guess that's my job since i'm the only one who does that =.=)
(iii) listening to NYCO CONCERT '08 RECORDING!
(iv) playing along to the recordings (i can imagine a crazy yqp miming qin wang dian bing and storm warning and dance)
(v) more eating
(vi) spouting more nonsense and talking more crap
(vii) i have absolutely NO idea.

and that's about it!

PLEASE DO COME, ALRIGHT?! (: this qing gong yan is actually a qing gong yan incorporated with farewell party for our beloved sec 4s! so COME! xD

hooray.

1 (b) DINNER AFTER QING GONG YAN

YAY THIS IS A REALLY EXCITING PORTION!

after qing gong yan we'll be hanging out, doing crazy stuff as a section (i guess. what else can we do? O___O) and afterwards, we'll be having dinner together!
to emphasise, this is a very special dinner (: it will be a farewell party SPECIALLY FOR YQP SEC 4s WHO ARE MORE AMAZING THAN ALL THE OTHER NYCO SEC 4s, muahaha.. bias us.

details first, i guess.

- date: 16th august, Saturday
- time: inclusive, of hanging out and doing crazy stuff time, 2pm-8pm
- venue: some steamboat buffet thing at marina square
- $$: $20 per person, exclusive of sec 4s because WE'LL BE PAYING FOR THEM! so sec 4s better come (:
- what we'll be doing:
WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WHAT WE'LL BE DOING'? WHAT DO YOU AT A BUFFET? HAVE A HAIRCUT? GROOM ELEPHANTS?

we'll be eating, of course.

and if i said you should come for qing gong yan, I SAY YOU MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST COME FOR THIS DINNER! (: haha!

you should already have received rachel's sms asking if you can come for the dinner. so, if you can, just follow the instructions in the sms, being SMS WENDY TO NOTIFY THAT YOU'LL BE COMING FOR THE DINNER BY SUNDAY NIGHT 11.59PM.

and wendy shall place a booking for us, because the place may be rather popular on saturdays. conclusion to this segment would be: start aiming to save $20, and keep saturday evening free!

1 (c) SLEEPOVER AT XIN YI'S HOUSE!

i do hope everyone has received an sms from SOMEONE asking if you'll be able to sleepover at xy's house (somewhere near marina square) after dinner which is after qing gong yan, on 16th august!

if you did not receive an sms, please sms me the moment you see this part of the post, if you can make it, alright? xin yi and xin yi's mama need to know (:

at the moment,

CAN GO: chewfei, cassandra, yuka, xin yi (er okay that was redundant)

CANNOT GO: joy, wendy, rachel, weishan, pei er, jiani, sylvia (but please do ask your parents again! it'll be so fun as a section!)

UNKNOWN: jaime, yunge

at xy's house, we'll probably be playing the piano (whahaha), watching a movie and playing with xy's dogs, yay! (if you dont like dogs, dont worry, just stay further away from the canines, yay). oh my gosh i accidentally typed dongs instead of dogs. O___O

//

ARGH THIS POST IS SO LONG. I THINK I'LL TALK ABOUT THE OTHER STUFF IN THE NEXT POST! SO SORRY THAT YOUR EYES HURT NOW!

BYEBYE! (:

HELLO:D

sorry, some things to clarify!

concerning rachel's post (actually my thoughts are in a mess now they're mixed up with geog content and all swimming around) so i'll just type randomly alright! hopefully it's coherent enough!

i understand that as NYCO, we seek to play music from our hearts.
to play the best that we can, music that we are proud of.
including at syf.
so syf doesnt just encompass competition, and yeah, like laiweng said, gold with honours probably isn't all it's worth.
but i just want to mention this.
no matter how much we tell ourselves otherwise, the award still matters.
yes, it may not be the most important thing.
it is not the only thing worth working for.
but i assure you, it matters whether you get it or not.
i'm not sure if all of you will agree, but that's really what i feel.
it's not good to just compete, but neither is it right to just go for syf without a goal.
rambling like mad.
main point?
i'm just concerned that all of you might get too complacent.
maybe i'm wrong, but that's just a worry for all of you as a senior.
so i just want to say, dont get complacent.
gwh doesnt come easy.
good music doesnt come easy either.
you've all done very well for concert, i'm proud of all of you.
keep up the good work, but dont be satisfied with where you are and keep pushing your boundaries.
and i'm sure at syf next year, when we hear you play, we'll all be proud of you.

why kill pee:D

NYCO Jacket Sizes

Hey YQP! Please inform me of your jacket sizes if you haven't told Chew Fei. I'm collating the CO's orders by Tuesday so if you don't tell me soon you won't be able to get a jacket this time. The jackets come in XS, S, M and L but it's unisex so M is already huge. Most will get XS or S. (I don't suppose anyone would get M...?)

Supposing that everyone is buying, the sizes our section will be getting are:

Chew Fei - XS
Jaime - S
Joy - S
Cassandra - XS
Wendy - S
Xin Yi - S
Rachel - XS
Sylvia - S
Wei Shan - XS
Yuka - S
Yunge - S
Jiani - S
Pei Er - XS
Total: XS - 5; S - 8

*Names in bold have yet to inform me of their choice of jacket size.

Alumni are also welcome to place orders with your sections (:

Please also inform me if you do not wish to order a jacket, or there may be extra jackets lying around that no one will pay for! For the design, see NYCO blog.

Once again, please inform me asap! Thanks!

from shawn!

just a word of caution
for everyone la
dont get too complacent
just because did well before doesnt mean it will come naturally
and you must know that a lot of schools out there are aiming very high also
for instance snco specifically target NYCO
as "the school to beat"
so dont become complacent, dont assume the gwh comes easily
work hard for it, trust mrs ee, play from your heart
and then the rest is out of control

hahaha she got a shock when i said i wanted to post it on yqp blog. but she said okay. its for us anyway (:

I appreciate how highly percussion is viewed in ny.

good for all of you, enjoy your time in ny.

after that you might come out cursing.

always remember this: percussionists, you are never less important that other instruments, no matter what other people say. even if you're treated unfairly, know that there is no orchestra that can be complete without you.

we are proud to be who we are.
