Some (shameless) advertising!
Come watch NUSCO concert! 11th March, 5pm at UCC (located in NUS).
Some highlights include Mr Lum playing Lan Hua Hua (Erhu Concerto), Cao Yuan Xiao Jie Mei (Pipa Concerto, featuring our own student!). And yes, a yangqin quartet item. (of which I should not comment so much because I'm supposed to memorise the score by tomorrow but erm.... yes, I can assure you that it'll turn out somewhat fine for the concert *keeps fingers crossed*)
Tickets at $9, $11, $15, $20 (excluding $1 sistic charge). Approach me for discounts! (I get to meet my quota too :). I strongly recommend the $11 and $15 tickets though, the $9 seats are rather far.
And I was originally thinking of going down to NY to publicse tomorrow, but sadly I have tons of readings and tutorials to do. Sigh... each week passes with endless mugging and textbook loving. And lots of CO.

Gosh, I almost forgot the username and password again (What can I say? It's indicative of my age...)
But yes, new yangqins. Really, take good care of them, especially in the first few months and years. A regularly tuned yangqin and stay good for a long long long time. The last time we bought new yangqins was in 2001, and there were two. But they probably look very old now. I'm sure Xinyu can still remember the days we came super early to school on a sunday to attempt to tune the yangqin at LT2 so that it'd be ready in time for "fei tian" for the very first nanyang arts fest. Unfortunately thanks to my absentmindedness, the school gate was closed and we ended up at mac's in serene centre instead. (I think it is even more unfortunate that this streak of absentmindedness in me has persisted till today, some 6 years on)
After nyco (even at the time I left when things weren't all so new and everything else), hcco can be quite an anticlimax. The storeroom at LT2 is small, squeezy and only fit for instruments. Yet despite all these, hcco has a charm of its own. You'd never imagine that behind the glorious golds each syf is the pain of getting people to turn up for practices, coercing the school to give us more money just so that we can get the conductor down, begging for money to get new instruments and scores.... Being in hcco, is as ziyi says, a reminder than ny is blessed with resources (and of course ms. chek)
Oh, and I erm, never really remembered the mass dances and I'm sure I've totally forgotten them by now :)
I'm wondering if I should go down to nyco one tuesday. Does any junior there know me? Or do I know any junior there now? (especially after shawn's batch has left...)

JUNIORS!
Hello everybody, I thought I'd drop by to say something for fun laughter peace and joy.
Good that you all have FOUR new yangqins. PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM OKAY. And speaking of instruments. I URGE YOU ALL TO
REALLY TREASURE YOUR TIME IN NYCOYQP. Making the transition from nyco to hcco is a little unsettling for me. I really miss m4-01, our beautiful instruments, our mallets, and all the nice stuff about nyco. I'm not saying that hcco is bad or anything, but I just really miss ny. Now I think we're really lucky to have so many well-maintained instruments, because it's really different in hc, the instruments are a lot older and I guess we move them around a lot. Plus everything's packed into a tiny store room and it's quite hard to get stuff in and out of there.
And yes I promise to visit soon because
I miss you all a lot. Don't say I'm cheesy okay! I was thinking about you all hcco during practice and I got quite sad. That was a pretty sad day anyhow. I'll tell you all about it if I can. I'll probably visit CO when I go back to get my grad cert and testimonial.
And just so you know, HC has FIVE mass dances. OHMYGOODNESS I thought i could escape CLL's bom-cha-cha mass dance and stuff ):
Do you all miss your seniors? :D HEEHEE.
See you all soon!
-Ziyi
