This is obsessive-compulsive behaviour.
MUAHAHAHAHA. My desktop image. Damn power right. You can download it if your computer screen's resolution is 1280 x 800. (Which I would guess is highly unlikely. My laptop has extraordinary proportions.) The bottom part's blank because that's where the taskbar goes.
I never put my name somewhere inside there leh! That's VERY rare okay. I am a copyright-keeper. ©®™ ._.
I don't like to put hearts with kinky tails around the place one hor! But there would be this gigantic gaping hole if I didn't. And I decided against smiley faces, they are
so 2006.
Maybe I should make a 扬琴打击one .___.
Anyway The Dark Knight was cool! We should go catch another movie. But not another 2.5-hour one heh. Everyone was freezing/half-sleeping by the end. Haha come my house watch movie! (8 Got a lot of movies! But it's in Siglap (near VJC). BUT half the section lives in the east (8
Good luck for block test results! Half my level failed math. Yay.
Okay yadda yadda bye.

Hello Why Kill Pee,
Today the whole of our section (with the exceptions of Jiani, Pei Er, Jaime and Joy) headed to Cathay Cineplex for a once-in-a-lifetime movie watching experience! You can also call it a section movie outing. Of course, it was a deserved treat since our block tests are over finally! Also, dating back a little earlier, we did so well for our concert - They don't call us NYCO for nothing, do they! Or, Yang Ching Dah Chee Association. Such a grand name for such a
godly group of people. Indeed. :)
We were contemplating on the movie choices from Red Cliff to Prom Night to Hellboy to NC16 movies (naughty naughty!) but we eventually decided on Batman: The Dark Knight. The movie was enjoyable, added on by the fact that we paid discounted tickets at only $6 each. Just wanted to share about the two lovelies who sat next to me throughout the whole movie:
Yun Ge - (In Chinese) "Oh my! It is so scary! No he looks so frightening!" *Curls up at my shoulder* 15 minutes later she asks me what happened. Initially I thought she was just too scared to look at the screen (what with the Two-Face or Joker). Later I discovered that she fell into a deep slumber. Lol.
Rachel - *Crawls behind windbreaker. Peeps up occasionally. Has a permanent :S expression on the face. Very scared.*
All that, for The Dark Knight. Haha, have you two actually seen actual HORROR movies like The Ring or Shutter? I guess not. You have a long way to go. :P Well as usual the usual suspects like Sylvia, Wei Shan and Yuka were quite noisy throughout the whole movie. -_- As I mentioned, such was a constant source of noise pollution everywhere they went. No wonder you belong to the Percussion section - all of you are boisterous like the drums and gongs! Being so comparatively silent, Wendy, Xin Yi, Cassandra and I must be the triangle and pengling and spoilt paigu and faulty marimba key et cetera.
That is about all. Let us have another outing soon! Great time today! :D

丝竹情韵2008 = SUCCESSYQP = AWESOME"Super pro can. Everybody was like godly. The stringed instrument players' fingers were so goddamn fast. Omg, i feel super noob at guitar and piano. Then percussion was even more godly. Their rhythm were holy accurate."
"People who say that girls are weaker physically and thus cannot do things as well as guys should see that concert."
Hahaha "godly" o:
Great job everyone! NYCO did really well :D

Naggy Friendly reminders in preparation for 18 July, Friday1) Eat well
2) Drink well
3) Practice well
4) Sleep well (at least 9 hours, preferably 11) on 17/7
5) Bring :
- Scores!
- 琴竹/mallets/sticks! (at least 2 pairs for each person)
- Uniforms! (blue CO uniform for 1st half, white long-sleeved blouse for 2nd half, black blouse for alumni)
- Court shoes! (super low socks are optional and should be hidden or skin-tone.)
- Makeup (unison: *groan*). Unless you want your foreheads to sparkle in the light like wet soap, bring
foundation which should be quite similar to your natural skin tone. And
blusher to avoid ghastliness (Note: People with dark complexion should get stronger shades since it's not so obvious. Fairer people can get a light shade.) And

HEY EVERYBODY!!!
yeah so i've been tasked with the job of posting about today WED, 16JUL!
oh... morning circle! (sorry i forgot to add that... you might be thinking what i was going to post about)
SO YEAH!
we were asked a question:
what do we think about the concert? (i don't know whether this is proper english but ahwells)
so some answers were (i might have missed out some :/):
- Sometimes we're great but then again, sometimes we're not really good D:
- We sound kind of empty (but that's cause the audi is *urgh*)
- Rushed!!!
- Not as prepared/good as previous batch (two years ago)
- Nervous? (CONCERT!!!)
So yeah, erm, in the end we all might have thought kind of negatively and well...
BUT SOME ENCOURAGEMENT!!!
"what we can't do in 30 days, we can't do in 3 days; what we can do in 3 days, we can't do in 30 days" that was what chew fei said (SORRY! please correct me if i am wrong with the phrase).
and yeah, she thinks we lack confidence, and that we're too scared to do our best,
SO HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE!!!yeah! and also, it's not our fault that we lost touch with TaiYang, cause we didn't practice that for too long and that's inevitable, right?
but it's mind over matter!
just like Mrs Ee said, we took a break from the piece, and when we came back to it, we came back with a different feeling!
I think that's good!!! ^^
AND ONE MORE THING!!!
JIA YOU JIA YOU JIA YOU!!!多多加油!
向前冲啊!!!
(BTW, JUDO RESULTS WERE GREAT!!! though not too good with the hcjc side, but NY DID WELL!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!)
ok, so let me be naggy (i don't care about xinyi's comments now D:):
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
SLEEP LOTS
WHO CARES ABOUT HOMEWORK? (for the time being ok?)
YEAH!!!

Hello everyone!
It's the Ancient One once again.
All the best for the concert on friday! Xinyu and I will be watching from the audience. I am eagerly anticipating Tai Yang. When I stepped into NYCO in 1999, I never dreamt that YQP could ever ever ever play something like Tai Yang. When I graduated in 2002, I still did not think it possible that we could play Tai Yang. In any case, the section has come really far.
Tune the yangqins, practice the rhythms, and don't forget to drink more water, attempt to sleep and try not to think about homework (because that does not exist until the concert is over).
Oh yes, may we Old Ones come and take photographs with you on that day?
P.S. If anyone is wearing the uniform that Cherie got, it's from me.

Hello YQP!
Okay I'm not trying to get negative around here, but I'm sure most know that today's dazu was quite unsuccessful.
1) The auditorium's acoustics were horrible (partially because the soundboards weren't set up). Which pretty much screwed the whole orchestra up. And it made the sound balance bad.
2) We haven't had a proper session of Taiyang since CNY, so it's currently pretty darn horrendous and we have 2 practices left. Shanjian is okay except we need to come in ACCURATELY, with Mrs Ee.
3) WE NEED TO PRACTICE AND GET IN SHAPE IN 3 DAYS.
Comments from audience on today's Taiyang (our FINALE item!)1) 铜器s were most prominent in whole percussion section, but were
not in sync with the orchestra. Players were sometimes uncertain with rhythms. Please practice with your metronome (this applies to EVERYONE)! And revise your techniques!
2) Drums sounded muffled and were sometimes inaudible. Possibly due to the curtains, but all should remember to aim for
articulation and
rhythmic accuracy, especially at the cadenza and sections with syncopated rhythms.
3) Mallet instruments can be louder, though it's pretty hard when the whole orchestra's playing at the same time. Yun luo can be more certain.
4) Cadenza lacked vibe. Players need stamina and more
ENERGY. (The cadenza is the most exciting part! Must IMPRESS the audience :D)
Dynamics were not observed well enough. AIM FOR THE EXTREMES! Just like QWDB or Storm Warning & Dance, go super soft or super loud and make sure it sounds like crescendo when there is one. Everything is always watered down from the audience's perspective.
5) Orchestra was not together. From audience POV, it was a blur of... stuff. As Mrs Ee said, everyone appeared to lack confidence. A way to compensate this is
taifeng,
which tells the audience that you know what you're doing.
6) (Actually this problem only applies to me) I can't see anyone in our section without platforms except maybe Cassandra when she's playing marimba, but I can't hear her because I'm standing between GUANYUE, the volume powerhouse. And it echoes real bad so when it's the cadenza Yunge sounds like she's half a beat behind me which apparently
isn't the case. So I wonder whether I should mind my own business or slow down. But till then, I shall turn to the...
metronome.
WORK HARD PEOPLE! DON'T LET MRS EE, MR LIM, ET, QQ, OUR SENIORS AND THE SEC 4S DOWN! This is our final performance with their batch! ): JIAYOU YQP! Remember, 900+ people paid $10 each to watch this concert!

Hello YQP...5 days left to NYCO Concert 2008 - Are you excited, nervous, or feeling a flurry of mixed emotions? No matter what, I hope you feel something at least. Nothing is worse than feeling nothing and being a robot... Just some words to say before our big day:Jaime & Joy: Aye Jamme and Joy, it is the last concert and official performance with NYCO already! I don't know how you feel - but I am saddened. Very, yes. The few years with this orchestra has built up a love so concrete, when it comes to nought after Friday I am afraid it will take away a very part of me. Shall we hug and cry together and freak out the juniors? Perhaps we should! Meanwhile, just thank you for being my peers all this while...Cass, Wendy & Xin Yi: Your batch is very special to my heart - You should all know you are to me, in many other ways, more than just juniors. Each of you different, in some way. I am quite sure you three will prosper in your own rights even after the seniors' departure, so strive on and persevere. Thank you for being a integral part of my YQP journey. I will miss you all dearly. I know it sounds downright perverse, but I love you three a lot. Yes. :)Syl, Rae, Yunge, Yuka & Wei Shan: Dearest little juniors! I have watched you grow from immature young ones to the wiser people you are today! Through your laughter, jokes, and smiles, I have learnt more from you than just positivity. The past year has allowed me to understand each of you a lot better. You guys have potential - Just keep learning in the right way with the correct attitude. Keep holding on! I will always be here, there, or anywhere, if you need me anytime.Jiani & Pei Er: And for the youngest of us all... I admit I hadn't been a really wonderful senior to you two since I was busy with my other stuff and the others. I hope you enjoyed your time in my term as the SL. Or at least, learnt things that were important. Beyond just technique and playing, but also life values that I had wanted to impart to you. You still have a long way to go ahead of you... Be strong, and never give up!As I type this, I feel tremendously empowered to say that I really love YQP. Thank you for the memories all these while. NYCO Concert 2008 - An event we won't ever forget for life. Even if the section splits up technically after this, YQP will still be YQP if we still value the bonds forged. All the best for Friday, and also for Block Tests too. More importantly, take good care of yourself and show the best you can, ever!Love,Chewy

wheee this week is my turn to post! (:
8th July, Lin Lao Shi's 1st Dazu in the Auditorium:as usual, we spent the whole lunch transporting down our instruments. even though that it was only bali and sha di er, we still had to move almost the whole of percussion down. ahhwells. but at least some others helped us out, so we had a little bit more time wuahaha xDthe yunluo was a bit of a problem 'cause it cant fit into the lift then we couldnt find anything that we could use to take out the screws of the yunluo stand /: so in the end we had to man-handle the whole thing down the stairs... it was hard to coordinate 'cause this yunluo is obviously different from the last one and we are going DOWN the STAIRS. ): the marimba was carried down too, yep.the suspended cymbal stand came off detached again!! thats another nuisance too ):everyone went back to class sweating and stinking.
a few things noted during BALI:
1)muyu is abit out among the keyboard instruments, but i dont have a choice if not i dont have time to run ):
2) yuka you have to prac your yunluo part!!! D:
3) sylvia has to try to put down the ocean drum without making noise. thats hard
4) it sounds very... empty. ):
ahhwells. alot of things just sound different in the audi, both in a good way and bad way.
a few things noted during SHA DI ER:
1) the fast parts can be faster, i think... and i know cass thinks too.
2) bar 229 is not bao4 enough, i think.
k forget it. basically, Sha Di Er sounds quite dead, especially towards the end..... and thats bad.
10th July, Mrs Ee's dazu:
lunch prac was basically crap. i dont think it was productive at all ): M401 wasnt opened, 'cause some teacher (probably Mdm Oehlers) was holding on the key and we couldnt get to it. so lunch prac was sort of spent on tuning the yangqins. ahhwells.
xiaozu, which was from 3pm to 4pm, wqas used to prac storm warning and dance [would someone like to update the section (or rather the sectwos) about stormwarning?], and tuning yangqins (both activities happening simultaneously). then qq came and wrecked all the fun. she was like so mean that day.... ): kae shant elaborate.
dazu started at about 4.30pm... i think. then we started with Di Yi, which was generally quite ok. but cass!! jiayou for your 引子!!
then shanjian, which is quite screwed, considering the fact that we only have 5 days left to concert, and that there are still people who know how to come in, and there are still quite a number of technical problems not solved. eek. and i have to remember that i come in the first beat, not the third. yuckyuckyuck.
11th July, Mrs Ee's dazu:
school ended early at 12.15, [wuahaha xinyi bought McD for us xD] so there was xiaozu from 2pm to 3pm, which was spent on tuning yangqins, and i have no idea what was happening in m401 at that time. someone update? but i must say, it was the first time that i had an enjoyable time tuning the yangqins. hahah right sectwos? ;D
dazu started of with Diyi, as usual, and after the recording, cass actually commented that it sounded quite nice. wuahahahaha! and cass!! you got all your 引子 parts correct! YAYYEEE!!!!!
i feel sad for meixin, really. but now that mrs ee has changed meixin's part to chinsian, i hope that that particular segment of the piece would be nicer (:
shan jian is.....bad. ): and i think everyone knows why that is so. ohmygoshh.....
some of us stayed back all the way till 7pm to prac taiyang. oh my taiyang. i wonder how long have we not played taiyang with the whole orchestra already ):
jiayou jiayou YQP!! as much as i know how everyone is going to freak out as the date draws near, i suggest we all keep calm. calm increases efficiency.
right btw, tues and thurs pracs next week are both in the audi, tues is mrs ee's pieces, thurs is full rehearsal without CO uniform. and we have LOA on thurs from 1pm onwards. so for now you can cheer yourself up by checking out what lesson(s) you would be missing (:
and friday is... concert.
JIAYOU JIAYOU,
rachel!

heyo yqp!it feels like a long time since i posted haha xDk anyway, i figured that i shouldnt be spamming the poor tagboard, so i decided to post instead wheeeright. today's 7th July, YOUTHDAY, 11 MORE DAYS TO CONCERT *OMG GASPS HYPERVENTILATES*HEY chill guys (right. chill me -.-)! im sure we all can do it!!!! like i mentioned in my tag, we are near! we just have to work hard for another 11days and we will be there on stage performing for 900+ people! and subsequently causing the whole hall roof to collapse xDand while concert is SOOOO near, we cannot allow ourselves to slack! take some time to evaluate yourself, like where else can be improved [like for me i must lian and revise until i wont blank out during taiyanga and bali ><] , and improve on it before the day comes! if there is still anything that you are not sure about [i hope not...] please approach the respective instructor/conductor ASAP or you can ask someone from the section, i guess.incidentally, it comes to this point -- how to make our practices more effective. note: things that im going to mention below applies to everyone, even myself.i admit that im sucker when i dont pay attention /:i feel that i think we all can reduce our digressing further [it has improved yaye!]. and then pay attention to ET, QQ, Pearly, Lin lao, Mrs Ee, Seniors, yourself, others around you. meaning that, pay attention to instructions (e.g. when you are asked to move, move!),and please give everyone your fullest patience and effort! ><and! as the date draws near, i totally expect mood swings to become common. but still, i hope that no one would throw tantrums at anyone, so as to ensure that everyone can be happy (and high) during practices! when someone really explodes, there are two ways you can approach it, one is to calm her down, two is to ignore her, and three, well you dont want to know what it is. in any case, choose the right thing to do with regard to the circumstance (:
but of course, this has to go both ways. while people try not to agitate anyone, we should try to control our temper and bear with any intentional/unintentional comments.
we must all try our best not to speak rudely to anyone. while practices are tough, basic courtesy should still be observed (:
[refering to above] and that is also why i think that patience is important, whether its patience to yourself or to the section or to the instructor/conductor. yep!
please please please take ultra good care of yourself and dont fall ill!! anyone missing would mean a part missing for the concert. so take care!!
oh. a few more things to take care of. your gu chui. qinzhu, tuner. and your scores. and every single part of your body. k that sounds sort of wrong but you get what i mean -.-
and can i request that people lets all tune yangqins with spirit and faith and enthusiasm. hahah! and keep the yangqin clean! if not you can ask sec 2s for tips on how to make your yangqin look sparkling clean. HAHA xD
lastly, this is going to sound stupid, but in the midst of pia-ing for concert, please pia for blocks too! its hard, i know, but tryyy!!!
YANGQINPERC I LOVE YOU GUYS
LET'S ALL JIA YOU FOR:1. MENG ZHI BALI2. SHA DI ER CHUAN QI3. XI SONG GONG LIANG [yuka]4. STORM WARNING AND DANCE5. DI YI ER HU KUANG XIANG QU6. BAI YI GU NIANG ZHI GE [joy & jaime]7. TIAN SHAN SHI HUA [wendy]8. YANG GUANG [cass]9. QIN WANG DIAN BING10. SHAN JIAN11. TAI YANGah. i realised that out of about 14 items, our section is involved in 11 of them ._.right. and when i read back to what i have typed, i think with my poor language use and limited diction (as chew puts it), it's quite incoherent /:quote chewfei: "For us it's twenty six hands, thirteen heads and one section. YQP forever!"
Lots of love,
rachel! (:

HELLO YQP !
This is weishan posting for the weeeeeeeeek !;D
FIRST THINGS FIRST:
SORRY FOR THE LATE POST !
i was really busy during the weekends :x
really sorryyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!!
okay.we shall start with the practices !
TUESDAY, 1JULY : Lunch Practicewe tried a new way of tuning the yangqins !the new way : synchronising of yangqins ;D
we started with the top qinma .everyone was to tune all the strings to be of the same note, then we'll tune according to one yangqin (YQ A [1], yuka's/wendy's yangqin at that particular time of tuning). it's an excellent way to tune, of course !;D but it'll definitely take a long long long time. but i mean, 欲速则不达 ,and we want all the yangqins to be tuned to perfection , right ?so it is WORTH IT MAN !:D
meanwhile, the rest can't get into M4 because nickng has the key on his table -.- so M4 remains locked !
LinLaoShi's Dazuwe排 bali first !
linlaoshi was just fine tuning the whole piece, and for the fast yangqin part at C/D , we finally realised that it wasn't as fast as we thought it was ,and so i guessed it's much better ;D
and we tried out the new arrangement during dazu ;D
the mallet instruments look so MAJESTIC (lol .exaggeration ,but NEVERMIND !) at the side of the room :D and M4 (especially the perc area ) didn't look that cramped anymore. at least in my point of view (;
then after bali, it was .....SATAY !
lol .linlaoshi was trying to be funny ;D and it worked :D
LEGEND OF THE SATAYYYYY .MUAHAHA .
it was overall quite good !at least i thought so !
i'm highly anticipating the crowd's cheers after they heard our shadier :D
WEDNESDAY, 2JULY : Lunch Pracnth big happened, merely tuning of the yangqin while the others practiced stormwarning (:
i still like stormwarning. jiani too !haha !;D she and i thought that the melody's marvelous :DDD
THURSDAY, 3JULY : Lunch Pracwe did qinwang !
man ,my memory's failing me, i can't rmb what we did during thursday lunch prac !DDDD:
i noted down QINWANG though ,but i forgot what we did D:
if anyone remembers ,do tell me !i'll add in to this post !
XiaoZuha .the huapengus arrived !;D
but they were somewhat HIGH PITCHED, so we went to sun them to loosen the skin of the drum (:
we went to the SECRET BALCONY OF 4TH FLOOOOOR !:D muaaaahahaha .then chewfei told the sec2s to stay there to practice. sylvia and rachel were like, so enthu when chewfei said that. then later, after like ,15min , they wanted to go and drink water and stay out of the sun .lol .but we were like hitting and hitting and smacking and hitting and practising-qinwang-ing and DRUMMING happily (:
then we returned to see qulao tuning the 4 yangqins .she said she wanted to tune them well for our concert, and so she needed our help in cleaning the yangqins .so we took her brushes and took some yellow cloth to clean them. then we oiled them .meanwhile, the seniors were replacing the yunluo stand (:
the new yunluo stand looks MUCH NICER THAN THE OLD ONE .and cooler too .and wider :D
FRIDAY, 4JULY : Mrs Ee's Dazubefore i go on, in case anyone's wondering, there isn't lunch prac on friday because it was youth day funfair. okay, i know it's obvious , but i sorta forgot about it and was trying to remember what we did at that time when sylvia reminded me that we were actually running around the school being freaked out by ghosts. (okay fine, i was the one freaking out , but that's not the point :x) maybe i was the only one who forgot about it, but LET'S CARRY ON !
we did diyi first .i guessed it was alrite (:
i came in slow during the first go-through, then subsequently i managed to come in on time .lesson of the day: always look at mrs ee, there's nothing to look at on the suspended cymbal, so LOOK AT MRS EE !
then we lian-ed shanjian .
man, it was kinda horrible.
I WAS HORRIBLE.
but i hope we'll be able to play it well before the concert !
cassandra loves shanjian (:
mrs ee said it is an overall easy piece, 'cause there are many repeats ,so it should be fine .
SATURDAY, 5JULY : Percussion Practicerachel, sylvia, chewfei were not there most of the time. i believe they had some student leader stuff !
so majority of YQP were over at M4 practicing stormwarning, so yuka and i were at the yq room practising . we took some random yangqin book and started playing and singing .ha !
the 不能忘记你 song was hilarious .at that time sylvia and rachel were there too ;D
then later yuka and i went to take a short break, so we went exploring the 4th floor. we found alot of secret places and secret ladders okay !ha !
then later we went back to hear them 过 stormwarning , then later it was qinwang. we fine-tuned it, and then we went through it tgr with chewfei and rachel and sylvia when they were back (:
then mrs ee heard us go through it once too, and she gave comments.
she said that we could go sooo soft at some parts till it's literally not able to be heard by the audience, and then later play uber loud to have a constrast. she said smth like the stage is very big, so the range of the volume must be greater .yes .
so that was how YQP spent the week during cca in overall !
quite a satisfying week, i guessed (:
few more things to say !!
CHEWFEI, RACHEL SAYS YOU'RE THE NICEST PERSON IN THE WORLD, AND YQP THINKS SO TOO !
Every member of YANGCHINGDACHEE will SUPPORT YOU FOREVER MAN !
hey, that's deep from the heart okay !cliché la, but still true !:D
YQP, keep on fighting for 18july !
WE ARE THE MAN (WOMEN, SORRY )
WAVE YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR AND CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEER !COME ON !
main point is just to jiayou for concert !;DDDD
LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST,
JAIME SAYS: BRING $10 FOR YQP FUND, AND PAY TO HER ASAP !okay, that's all for my post of the week !
I LOVE YOU,YOU LOVE ME,TOGETHER WE ARE YQP !
